A Connecticut man charged with robbery, assault and larceny says a phlebotomist who took his blood "years ago" got in a plane last December and dropped it onto the crime scene.
According to the Connecticut Post, the suspect approached an unidentified man in the parking lot of a restaurant near Norwich, Connecticut around 10 p.m. on December 16 and asked for a light. The suspect then pulled out what looked like a handgun and demanded “everything you have or I am going to kill you.”
A struggle ensued resulting in the victim being hit on the head by the gun after it failed to discharge. The victim then overpowered the assailant and wrestled his gun away, but was then stabbed by the suspect. The assailant then fled the scene. The suspect was later apprehended based on DNA test results and a description by the victim.
At first, the suspect claimed officers planted his blood at the scene, but later alleged it was a phlebotomist who took his blood years ago, then dropped his DNA at the scene via airplane after the December incident.
